Becoming an affiliate artist with COVA-DAAV means joining a national network of professional artists committed to fair compensation, transparent rights management, and the protection of creative work.
As a COVA-DAAV affiliate, you gain access to:
Professional representation for the licensing and management of your copyright
Royalty collection and distribution for exhibitions, reproductions, and digital use
Advocacy and support through partnerships with CARFAC and RAAV
Inclusion in an international network of artists through reciprocal agreements abroad
Affiliation ensures that your creative rights are protected while allowing you to focus on what matters most: your art.
To ensure the effective management of your rights, all COVA-DAAV artists and estates must maintain a $50 annual membership fee.

Affiliation Criteria & Application Process

All artists currently not affiliated and seeking to join COVA-DAAV, must meet the following criteria:
Applicants must be artists or estates with licensable works
Applicants must provide a minimum of five significant examples of exhibitions or reproductions that could have been, in the sole discretion of COVA-DAAV, licensed (e.g. public exhibitions, reproductions in in books, magazines, film, TV). Both recent and older examples may qualify)

Required Documents to Upload:
Scanned copy of a valid government-issued photo ID (ex. Driver’s license, passport)
At least 5 examples of licensed works
Any other supporting documents that may be relevant to your application (ex. CV, list of main exhibitions, etc.)
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Application fees:
One-time, non-refundable:
Individual Applicants: $75
Estate Applicants: $125 per estate holder

Due to a high volume of applications, we ask that you allow up to one month for a response from COVA-DAAV.

Individual Artist Affiliation Application Form
1. Introduction
Thank you for your interest in becoming affiliated with Canadian Artists’ Representation Copyright Collective Inc., operating as Copyright Visual Arts – Droit d’auteur Arts visuels (“COVA-DAAV”). This application is the first step in COVA-DAAV’s affiliation process and enables COVA-DAAV to assess whether an applicant satisfies the eligibility criteria for affiliation.
Submission of this application does not create an affiliation or any contractual relationship with COVA-DAAV, nor does it guarantee acceptance as an affiliate. All applications are reviewed by COVA-DAAV in accordance with its affiliation criteria and approval process.
Applicants will generally be notified of the outcome of their application within approximately 30 days after COVA-DAAV has received a complete application and the applicable non-refundable application fee. Additional information or supporting documentation may be requested during the review process.
If your application is approved, you will receive instructions to complete the final steps of the onboarding process, including:
● executing the COVA-DAAV Affiliate Agreement;
● securely providing any required tax and banking information; and
● payment of the applicable annual affiliation fee.
Your affiliation with COVA-DAAV will become effective only after all onboarding requirements have been completed.

Before completing the application below, please review the information provided on this page regarding the affiliation process, eligibility requirements, applicable fees and the supporting documentation required to complete your application.
Please ensure that you have the following information and supporting documentation available before submitting your application. Incomplete applications may delay the review process and may result in your application being returned as incomplete.
Application Checklist:
Government-issued photo identification
A valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s licence or passport). Your identification will be used solely to verify your identity and will be retained only for as long as necessary for that purpose, in accordance with COVA-DAAV’s Privacy Policy.
Examples of your artistic practice
A minimum of five (5) significant examples of exhibitions or reproductions of your work that may qualify for licensing by COVA-DAAV (e.g., public exhibitions, reproductions in books, magazines, film, television or other comparable uses). Both recent and older examples may be submitted.
Supporting documentation (optional)
Any additional documents that may assist us in the assessment of your application, such as:
o curriculum vitae (CV);
o exhibition history;
o publication list; or
o other relevant supporting materials.
Application fee
Payment of the applicable one time non-refundable application fee must accompany your application. Payment instructions will be provided following submission of the application.
This fee covers the time required for the COVA-DAAV team to review, validate, and approve and process applications.

Death Certificate
A copy of the deceased artist’s Death Certificate and evidence of entitlement must be submitted to confirm the applicant’s legal authority to represent the artist’s estate for licensing purposes.

o exhibition history;
o publication list; or
o other relevant supporting materials.
